21 staten - 67 weten

 

Anti-LGBTQ+-wetgeving neemt in 2025 niet af, maar wint juist aan kracht.

Volgens de American Civil Liberties Union zijn er dit jaar tot nu toe 598 wetsvoorstellen ingediend in de Amerikaanse deelstaatparlementen om de rechten van queers te beperken. Daarvan zijn er 67 aangenomen. Vorig jaar werden er 533 ingediend en in 2023 510.


De 67 wetten die dit jaar zijn aangenomen, komen uit slechts 21 staten, waarvan er slechts vier goed zijn voor 26 wetten. De meeste richten zich op de toegang van transgenders tot openbare voorzieningen, genderbevestigende zorg en erkenning in de samenleving. Hier zijn alle anti-LHBTQ+-wetten die tot nu toe in 2025 zijn aangenomen, wat ze inhouden en uit welke staten ze afkomstig zijn.

Alabama has passed one anti-LGBTQ+ law this year, S.B. 79, which bans trans people from single-sex spaces that do not align with their sex at birth.

Arkansas

Arkansas has passed six anti-LGBTQ+ laws this year. H.B. 1616 creates religious exemptions for nondiscrimination protections, S.B. 486 bans trans people from single-sex spaces that do not align with their sex at birth, S.B. 444 allows doctors to refuse gender transition treatments, H.B. 1916 defines gender-affirming care for youth as "malpractice," H.B. 1669 allows anti-LGBTQ+ parents to foster LGBTQ+ children, and H.B. 1307 restricts public funds from covering gender-affirming care.

Georgia has passed three anti-LGBTQ+ laws this year. S.B. 1 bans trans students from facilities and sports teams that align with their gender identities, S.B. 185 restricts gender-affirming care for incarcerated people, and S.B. 36 allows religious exemptions that could deny housing, healthcare, and equal pay to LGBTQ+ people.

Idaho

Idaho has passed seven anti-LGBTQ+ bills into law in 2025. H.B. 239 requires parent permission to study "human sexuality," H.B. 352 bans instruction on LGBTQ+ identities K-12, S.B. 1027 protects employers who refuse to facilitate gender transition treatments, S.B. 1198 prohibits DEI initiatives at universities, H.B. 264 bans trans people from single-sex spaces that do not align with their sex at birth, H.B. 59 creates religious exemptions for healthcare providers, and H.B. 41 bans LGBTQ+ flags at public buildings.

Indiana has passed two anti-LGBTQ+ laws so far this year. H.B. 1412 classifies guardians denying youth gender-affirming care as non-abusive, and H.B. 1041 bans trans women from women's sports.

Iowa

Iowa has passed three anti-LGBTQ+ laws this year. H.F. 1049 bans Medicaid from covering gender-affirming care for adults, H.F. 856 bans DEI programs at public institutions, and S.F. 418 prohibits gender changes on birth certificates.

Montana has passed six anti-LGBTQ+ bills so far this year. H.B. 819 bans LGBTQ+ flags at government buildings, H.B. 682 requires that Medicaid cover detransition treatment, H.B. 690 classifies guardians denying youth gender-affirming care as non-abusive, S.B. 218 allows those who regret transitioning to sue their doctors, H.B. 121 bans trans people from single-sex spaces that do not align with their sex at birth, and H.B. 300 classifies trans people using facilities that align with their gender identities as unlawful discrimination against cisgender people.

S.B. 12 requires parental permission for students to go by a different name or pronouns, H.B. 229 incorrectly defines sex as unchanging and exclusively male or female, H.B. 18 bans mental health practitioners from affirming the identities of trans minors, and S.B. 1188 requires government access to medical records containing information about one's biological sex.

Utah has passed five anti-LGBTQ+ laws so far this year. H.B. 283 allows anti-LGBTQ+ parents to foster LGBTQ+ children, H.B. 252 restricts gender-affirming care for incarcerated people, S.B. 74 creates strict requirements for legally changing one's sex, H.B. 77 bans LGBTQ+ flags at government buildings, and H.B. 269 bans trans people from public facilities that don't align with their sex at birth, including trans students in schools.

Wyoming has passed seven anti-LGBTQ+ laws so far this year. H.B. 0032 incorrectly defines sex as unchanging and exclusively male or female, H.B. 0164 bans gender-affirming care for youth, S.F. 0044 bans trans students from sports teams that align with their gender identities, S.F. 0077 prohibits state employees (including teachers) from affirming someone's gender identity through names and pronouns, S.F. 0062 bans trans students from facilities that align with their gender identities, H.B. 0072 bans trans people from public facilities that don't align with their sex at birth, and H.B. 0207 allows religious exemptions that could deny housing, healthcare, and equal pay to LGBTQ+ people.

    Als je nu toch naar de USA wil reizen, is in ieder geval duidelijk welke staten je moet boycotten als LHBT-er
